| KELHAM Kelham's stone bridge dates back to 1855, but was originally built in the early 13th century, which was then destroyed during the Civil War. King Charles I gave himself up in 1646 to the Scottish army which had set up camp at Kelham. Kelham Hall, originally the private residence of John Manner-Sutton, burnt down in 1857. The present Kelham Hall, built around 1862 is now occupied Newark and Sherwood District Council. The Hall now has a magnificent dome, added around 1924, which is available to hire for private functions. |
