Sign up at Wooly

It’s official – The Woolpack is now called the Prince Rupert.
The sign has just gone up outside the pub, and I must say I was a bit surprised as to its simplicity. Although I think Newark’s assured of a magnificent pub when it opens later this month, It is a little saddening to see the old name go.
But then we all know what happened with the Royalist, Zoo and Hobgoblin, don’t we?

Elston carries on community pub spirit
Posted on February 17, 2010 by Hogshead : 70 views
We just received an email from Ed Bishop, who writes:
The Chequers at Elston has now been shut (depressingly) since about September last year and shows no sign of re-opening. To keep the pub alive though a local couple of their own accord and for no reward have started running ‘pub nights’ in the village hall with proper real cask ale (Castle Rock), big screen sports events, themed evenings (Burn’s, Valentines, etc) and a quiz night.. Not the same as a pub, but beggars can’t be choosers!

Friday 29th January – 11.00am – 11.00pm
Saturday 30th January – 11.00am – 11.00pm
Card carrying CAMRA members pay £2 for admission, non-members pay £5. Entry is pay at the door, NOT ticket only as last year was.
