Mail Coach receives award

Dave Kirrage, landlord at the Mail Coach, London Road, Newark, was awarded a special certificate of achievement at the recent Newark CAMRA Christmas social.

The award, which was presented by branch chairman, Paul Murphy, was to mark the 10th consecutive year of inclusion of the pub in the Campaign for Real Ale's Good Beer Guide. It was presented on the occasion of the branches Christmas social, which was held at the pub in December.

To be included in the guide at all is quite an accolade, but 10 years on the roll is an astounding feat, and is testament to the quality of the beers kept at the Mail Coach. The pub has changed little over the past decade, but reading through the back-issues of the guide shows just how many beers have been available over that period.

The pub currently offers beers from Whitbread, plus two or three guests, usually from micro's and including a mild.
