Quote of the month:
"There must be more to Bamberg than bars!" - Rob Neil,
Maypole Brewery.
Small UK cider makers under threat:
The EU are reviewing the 70hl (1500
gallon) tax exemption for small craft cider makers. This will
endanger the future of most of our excellent cider and perry
makers. An on-line petition has been set up
here, and you can read more about the campaign against the
proposals
here.

SIBA East Region Beer Competition held at Elgoods Brewery at
Wisbech on 17th January. Shy Talk (3.7%) earned Gold in the

Bitter (Silver) and Oakham Black Hole Porter which took Gold.
Steve Hussey, ex-landlord of the Newark POTY winning Old Coach
House, has had to vacate the tenancy at the Dumbles, Southwell.
This is due to an injunction taken out by Punch following their

Stephen and Angela Taylor, whose previous pub was Oddfellows, at
Kegworth.
The Mail Coach, Newark is under new management and has been refurbed. It has also joined the
LocAle scheme, guaranteeing you of a
